CALL FOR PROPOSAL Grant Program for Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction Grant Program (PRBBK)
Safer Communities through Disaster Risk Reduction in Development (SC-DRR) is a cooperation program between BAPPENAS and UNDP. This program is designed to change disaster risk reduction so that it becomes a normal part of a decentralized development process. For that purpose, it is imperative to mainstream the disaster risk reduction into development. Mainstreaming the disaster risk reduction will be pursued through the following four objectives: (i) enactment of policies, regulations and regulation frameworks on disaster risk reduction; (ii) strengthening institutions involved in disaster risk reduction and facilitating partnership among them; (iii) making communities and decision makers better informed on disaster risk and measures that can be taken to reduce those risk; and (iv) demonstrating a turn of the disaster risk reduction to be part of the development program. In relation to the targets or outputs, the logical framework target of the SD-CRR Program has decided that a number of pilot projects of disaster risk reduction for specific disaster threat (floods, landslides, droughts, tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanoes) will be conducted Call for Proposals Grant Programme PRBBK – SC-DRR - 2 in several cities, villages, coastal areas and small islands and at certain development sectors (irrigation, dry land management, livelihoods, transportation and heath). The Project Ex-Board decided six provinces (DKI Jakarta, DI Yogyakarta, Jawa Tengah, Sumatera Barat, Bengkulu, and Nusa Tenggara Timur) and one city (Palu) as the location for SC-DRR pilot projects. In line with the plan to carry out those pilot projects, the Executive Board of SCDRR has agreed to launch the Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction (PRBBK) Grant Program at several locations via “call for proposal” mechanism.
Currently, the PRBBK – SC-DRR Grant Program provides opportunities for nongovernmental organizations and civil society organizations (including universities) which work and have offices based in the Central Java Province and in the Special Province of Yogyakarta.
